Topic: Education is recognized as vital to the future of any society in today’s world. Government throughout the world should make education compulsory for all children between the age of 5 and 15. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Education is vitally crucial to the growth of any society, especially when most, if not all, of the countries are striving toward a knowledge-based economy. Compulsory education for all the children aged from 5 to 15 is surrounded by arguments of both sides.
Some people are of the opinion that education ought to be a matter of choice. Some children who are forced to join classes would possibly find themselves under pressure, which may lead to some mental diseases or disordered behaviors. As a result, education would probably bring nothing than a nightmare for children. On the other hand, compulsory education could be a burden for some poor families who are even unable to make their end meet.
Other people, myself included, argue that it should be mandatory for children between 5 and 15 years old to go to school. They point to the fact that education plants a seed of basic background and build up confidence for children at those ages through teamwork, social activities. 5-15 years is expected to be the most suitable times that children can absorb and form their background best. This background then, would probably facilitate children when they acquire more complex skills and knowledge in consequent years. On the other hand, for the children of poor families, the government can assist them with free-of-charge education as a sort of investment for the whole society.
There are things that once missed could never take back. I believe education at early age is among one of those. Therefore, it’s worthwhile for governments to mandate education for children aged 5 to 15 for the sake of the whole humankind.
